Period Supplies Are School Supplies

Nearly 1 in 4 students have struggled to afford period products in the United States.

51% of students have worn period products for longer than recommended.

“If a student enters class without a pencil, I provide them with a pencil so they can engage in our learning activities. We can adopt the same attitude toward period products. Simply put: Period Products are school supplies”

With nearly a quarter of students struggling to gain access to and/or afford period products, students can often find themselves struggling to show up prepared and ready to engage in their learning environment.

Due to the lack of visibility and support regarding menstrual hygiene, it is often left up to organizations and the community to prioritize the need of sanitary products to those impacted most.

In 2022, Free Flow teamed up with Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia for our biggest partnership yet. In partnership with the ODU Women and Gender Equity Center, Free Flow and the ODU community have been able to supply its residence halls with period products that can be accessed at any time while on campus.
